Safe Environment Training
The Diocese of Charleston requires all clergy, employees and volunteers who work with minors or vulnerable adults to complete Safe Environment Training through the Virtus Online platform. This training is part of our commitment to protecting children and creating safe spaces in parishes and ministries.
What the training includes:
- "Protecting God's Children" for adults
- "Healthy Boundaries for Adults"
- Vulnerable Adults
- Education on recognizing and preventing abuse
- Review of diocesan policies, codes of conduct and ministerial standards
- Background Check
Who is required to complete the training:
- All Clergy
- All Seminarians
- All Religious
- All Employees
- All Teachers
- All Volunteers
How to register for training:
- Visit www.virtusonline.org
- Select "First-time Registrant" on left-side
- Follow the prompts and drop-down menus
- Complete your profile and begin a training session
If you completed Virtus Training at another parish in the Diocese of Charleston:
- If you have completed Safe Environment at another parish within the Diocese of Charleston in the last 5 years, you will not need to create another account.
- Please login to your account and add Holy Family Catholic Church in the "My Info" section.

How to report allegations:
