What is the Liturgical Ministry?
The Liturgical Ministry refers to a role or service performed during a Mass. These volunteer roles help the congregation actively participate in worship and ensure the liturgy is celebrated reverently and smoothly.
Once you are registered to volunteer, you will have an opportunity to share your preferred time to serve at Mass, as well as share any days you are not available.

Extraordinary Ministers of Communion
Extraordinary Ministers of Communion are lay members of the parish who assist priests and deacons in distributing the Holy Eucharist at Mass. Training is required of new volunteers, including those who may have been an Extraordinary Minister at a previous parish. For additional information and to arrange training, please contact Fr. Christopher Loester at frchristopher@holyfamilyhhi.org.
Lectors
Lectors are those individuals that proclaim the Word of God during Mass. The lector is a minister of the Word, and helps the parish understand God's message. Training is required of new volunteers, including those who may have been a lector at a previous parish. In addition, a lector workbook is provided to volunteers so that they may prepare accordingly. For additional information and to arrange training, please contact Fr. Christopher Loester at frchristopher@holyfamilyhhi.org.
Ushers
Ushers assist with several miscellaneous items prior to and during the Mass. Ushers assist people to their seats, take up the offertory collection, record weekly Mass attendance, and guide people to Communion. In addition, they may also assist at funerals. For additional information, please contact Paul Puma at pauldpuma@gmail.com.
Greeters
The greeter's role at Mass is to welcome parishioners in the spirit of hospitality. Their positive, friendly tone should reflect the love of Christ and the unity of the parish. For additional information, please contact the Parish Office at info@holyfamily.org
Choir
The choir plays a key role in leading and enriching the liturgical music, which is an essential part of the worship experience. They help the congregation sing hymns, psalms and responses. Joining the choir is a great way to improve your singing, learn harmonies and be part of our parish community. The choir meets during the week to prepare for the weekend liturgies. Singers and those that play musical instruments are encouraged to join one or more of these groups: adult choir, children's choir or Coro Hispano. For additional information, please contact Dr. Pam Kane at music@holyfamilyhhi.org.
Altar Linens
This ministry is a great way to serve behind the scenes and to volunteer from home. Each week, members take turns washing and preparing the small linens used at Mass. This includes the washing and ironing of purificators, corporals, and altar linens. For additional information, please contact the Parish Office at info@holyfamilyhhi.org.
Pew Maintenance
Each Friday morning after the 8:00 am Mass, members of this ministry dust, sweep and mop the sanctuary area. In addition, they check the hymnal pockets for trash, missing books and other items. Those interested in assisting, are welcome to join any time!
Sacristans
Sacristans prepare for the celebration of Mass. These duties include preparing the altar for Mass, cleaning the altar following Mass. Other responsibilities include ensuring that the correct liturgical colors are in use, the candles are lit, the readings are marked, and the linen pieces are available and appropriate. Training is required for this ministry. For additional information and to arrange training, please contact Fr. Christopher Loester at frchristopher@holyfamilyhhi.org
Wedding Coordinators
Wedding coordinators assist the couple, family and bridal party at the wedding rehearsal and wedding day. Coordinators are not involved in the couple's preparation for marriage. For additional information, please contact Dcn. Bill Garrett at deacon@holyfamilyhhi.org.
